Honduras beat Haiti 2-0 in Gold Cup


Washington, Jul 9 (IANS): Efficient Honduras beat Haiti 2-0 to open the team's 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer trip.

Haiti overwhelmed Honduras 23-6 in shots, but none of the 23 shots was turned into goal here Monday, reports Xinhua.

Honduras got 1-0 lead thanks to Rony Martinez's goal in the fourth minute. Marvin Chavez scored in the 78th to seal the victory 2-0 for Honduras.

In the earlier match, Trinidad & Tobago drew 2-2 with El Salvador. Honduras topped Group B with three points.
