Mangalore, Jan 16: The Telugu Kala Samiti and department of Culture, Andhra Pradesh government, jointly organised Sankranthi Sambhramalu, on the occasion of Makara Sankramana at NMPT officers' club premises on Friday.
People hailing from Andhra Pradesh, who are residing in and around Mangalore participated in the programme. Prior to the programme, Sankrathi Muggulu, a rangoli competition was held for women.
KREC lecturer and Telugu Kala Committee secretary Ramachandra spoke on the objectives of the programme.
Chogi Pallu programme: The programme denotes pouring flower, coins and fruits on the head of children, praying for long life for them. A classical vocal was presented by Chitra Nagaraj of Hyderabad and Ratnashri Sudhakar performed Kuchipudi. A magic show and mimicry by famous magician Uday Bhaskar was also held. The event was inaugurated by Prof Sooryanarayan.
