Mangalore, Jan 15: Some of the greaterst dreamers and achievers of undivided South Kanara (Dakshina Kannada) district converged for the first time on a single stage to mark the tenth anniversary of 'Mangalore Today' English monthly on Saturday, January 14 evening. The colourful function was held in the Dr TMA Pai International Convention Centre in the city.

Of the ten distinguished speakers who were to deliver lectures on different subjects, Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala and Dr Deviprasad Shetty could not be present owing to unforeseen circumstances.

Veteran journalist and Prasar Bharati chairman Madhav Vithal Kamath was felicitated for his 50 years' service to journalism by former Supreme Court judge Justice N Santosh Hegde. Karnataka Bank chairman Ananthakrishna presided over the function.

Editor-publisher V U George welcomed the gathering. The eight speakers spoke on diverse subjects relevant to the growth of the region. Executive editor Mahesh Nayak, college faculties Malini Hebbar and Vandana Shevgoor compered the event.
