Kundapur, Jan 14: It is quite evident now that Naxalites are here to stay.  After a brief lay-off, Naxalites have once again started operating actively in the rural parts of the taluk.  Though there was great threat of ZP and TP elections would be overshadowed by Naxalite activities, it did not.  Elections went on well.  Though they boycotted elections in the some parts of the taluk, the electorates turned out in huge numbers to cast their franchise.  This was seen as a huge blow to the Naxal movement.

But the Naxalites have proved that they won't accept defeat very easily.  As if to prove this true, they have started meeting people in the Yedmoge, Devarbal and Beeravbail areas.  It is for the first time after the elections that Naxalites have been spotted in the public.  In the meantime handbills, wall posters and other publicity materials are also seen in the areas such as Bagimane, Hallihole, Hosangadi etc.

The "writing on the walls" (wall posters) carry the message of elected representatives not fulfilling the promises made during elections.  Through these wall posters and handbills have given a call to the people to fight against the system.  The handbills also speak about the pegging problems of such as power problem, telephone lines to the rural areas, construction of bridge to connect to Devarbal with other areas etc.

Whatever it may be, this new development has once again panicked the natives, as they have to put up both with police as well as the Naxalites.  But they cannot sit on the fence since the situation demands that they joint hands with either of them.  At the end however, there is no one to listen to the plight of these rural people.
