Mangalore, Jan 12: Mangalore University Senate and Syndicate former member Bantwal Shafeeq Ahmed Kumar passed away in Bangalore on Wednesday January 11 morning after a brief illness. He was 74.

A former deputy director of Treasuries in Bangalore as well as Mangalore, he has served as the private secretary to State Education Minister, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council and Legislative Council previously.

He was serving as the Vice Chairman for the Islamic Academy of Education in Mangalore.

Islamic Education Chairman and trustees have condoled the demise of Kumar.

His last rites will be performed at Jodu Masjid, Berke-Kudroli in Mangalore on January 12 at 8.30 am.

He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
