Mangalore, Jan 10: The Bunder police have seized 3 bikes after arresting two notorious vehicle lifters on Monday January 9.  The total worth of the seized bikes is estimated at Rs 90,000.

The arrested have been identified as Chetan (19), a resident of Bykampady and Ketan (21) of Chitrapur.  They were later produced before the Court, which remanded them to 21 days judicial custody.

On Monday the Bunder police were on their usual duty near North Port when the bike ridden by the accused came to the place. When the police asked them to stop the bike, they did not.  So the police chased them and caught them after sometime.  Upon enquiring, the police came to know that the bike had been stolen from Ladyhill here.  They had even changed the original number plate and fixed a duplicate one.

Accordingly, the police brought them to the station and subjected them to further enquiry.  During the interrogation, the accused revealed that they had stolen two more bikes too.  These bikes were later on recovered from their house.  Among the two bikes, while one was stolen from a place near MRPL, the other was stolen from Manipal near Udupi.
