Armenia dash Danish World Cup hopes

Copenhagen, Jun 12 (IANS): Armenia smashed Denmark 4-0 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Parken, Denmark, crushing the hopes of the Danes to qualify for the finals.

Armenia Tuesday scored the first goal after only 27 seconds into the game through Yura Movsisyan and only 20 minutes later the score was 2-0, reports Xinhua

After the pause the Danish team tried to get back in the fight but did not succeed. Instead Armenia's Movsisyan scored his second goal to 3-0 after 14 minutes into the second half before Mkhitaryan sealed the victory with a 81st-minute goal.

The Danish coach Morten Olsen called it the worst evening in his long life in football but took full responsibility for the rather surprising result. It is now discussed if Morten Olsen will continue as coach for the Danish national team after 13 years in the post.
