Death toll in Mumbai building collapse climbs to four


Mumbai, Jun 11 (IANS): With three more persons succumbing to injuries, the death toll in the Central Mumbai building collapse has risen to four, civic officials said today.

The victims were identified as Mhaisani Baatliwala (75), Halima Sheikh (50) and Mobin Lakha (18), they said.

While Sheikh died at the Sion Hospital, two others succumbed at the Hinduja Hospital.
Yesterday, an elderly woman identified as Zaibunissa Abdul Sattar Laakha (76) was killed and six persons were injured when a portion of a four-storey building caved in, apparently due to rain, in Mahim.

According to BMC, debris removal operations are still on at the collapse site of 'Altaf', located on Cadell Road.

The injured were admitted to Bhabha Hospital in suburban Bandra, KEM and at Sion Hospital among others.
