Captaincy was a good challenge: Rohit Sharma

Kolkata, May 27 (IANS): Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma said leading the side to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title win here Sunday was a great experience.

"Captaincy was a good challenge and it's been a great experience and a learning curve. We knew we haven't won the title for the last five years but this time we were very determined, credit goes to all the players and staff involved," he said.

Sharma said that in the final against Chennai Super Kings, the plan was to ask his lead bowlers to go after the top batsmen.

"Plan was to bowl our strike bowler at their best batsmen. I want to thank everyone who supported us," he said.

Kieron Pollard, who was adjudged Man of the Match for his unbeaten 60, said it felt great to play best cricket against the best IPL team.

"I thank my family and the crowd for backing us. I have to try and take responsibility and it came off today," he said.
