Three CSK players 'linked' to spot-fixing probe ?

Mumbai, May 24 (Agencies) : Three Chennai Super Kings players, one of them quite senior, were in touch with Vindoo Dara Singh during the ongoing T20 season, the actor, arrested in connection with the spot-fixing probe, has told investigators. "Yes, he has dropped some names, we are verifying the authenticity of his claims," said the joint commissioner of police (crime), Himanshu Roy, who refused to reveal the identities of the cricketers.

The police might question the players once they corroborate Vindoo's claims, sources said.

The small-time Bollywood actor, arrested by the Mumbai police on May 21 for betting and his alleged links to bookies, is emerging as a key link in the spot-fixing scandal that has rocked Season 6 of cricket's richest tournament.

His interrogation has brought the fixing scandal to the door of CSK, which is owned by India's cricket board chief N Srinivasan.

On Thursday, a team of the Mumbai Police was in Chennai to question Gurunath Meiyappan, Srinivasan's son-in-law and CSK 'principal', or CEO, as his name allegedly figured prominently during the interrogation of Vindoo, known as Jack in betting circles. The team drew a blank as Meiyappan was not home.

However, in a message faxed to the Mumbai police, Meiyappan said he would appear before the police at 11am Monday. "We have informed the Mumbai Police that it's impossible for him to appear on a short notice since he is out of town with his family," adviser to the Meiyappan family and senior counsel in the Madras high court, PS Raman, told HT over telephone late on Thursday. Raman, who claimed that he was unaware of his client's whereabouts, said he was yet to hear from the police.

When contacted, the additional commissioner of Police, Niket Kaushik, said they had received the fax from Gurunath's lawyer late in the evening and would take a decision on the request on Friday morning.

Himanshu Roy said the police were probing how Vindoo suddenly made a killing during the ongoing season, pocketing a neat Rs. 17 lakh through betting.
"This is strange since he lost heavily in the previous five seasons," he said.

During the day in Chennai, a team of the Mumbai Police's crime branch was literally red-flagged when it reached the Cenotaph Road residence of Meiyappan. A red flag was fluttering atop the house -- an indication, said locals, that no one was home.

Meiyappan was not at his office in the India Cements building either, Roy said. The CSK office is housed in the building as well. Srinivasan is the vice-chairman and MD of India Cements.

A copy of the summons -- asking Meiyappan to appear before the crime branch in Mumbai on Friday between 11am and 5pm -- was pasted at his house and another handed over to an employee at the CSK office, Roy said.

The police had summoned Meiyappan as they wanted to bring him face-to-face with Vindoo, whose police remand would end on Friday.

If I say - " I am Proud of my India" - then it means to say that I am proud of the Dishonesty, Corruption, Casteism, Religious-Fanaticism, Gambling, Gang-Rape, human-trafficking, nepotism, child marriage, female-infanticide, Tax-evasion,election-frauds and so many other negative characters deeply engrained in the character of all Indians. Leave aside IPL, is there a single field where we are honest ? Even inside the Temple in front of God himself both Priests & devotees both are dishonest. Should I be proud of all this and say I am Proud Indian ?

RCB too lost matches intentionally, Malya made money by loosing matches. Most of the team owners are listening to BCCI who is playing major role in betting. IPL means gambling and not playing. RCB such a strong team is not reaching semi finals no one will accept this. I am a RR fan but my son is RCB. He could digest the defeat not slept for days.

So the corruption has reached in every nook and corner of the country. Shukla and Jaitley met Sibal to make a strongest law ! Why don't they show the same spirit in introducing a strongest Lokpal????? That is more important as it is for the 'aam admi'. Bettings are for those who can afford. Common man has nothing to do with it except for getting fooled by these corrupted players.

The Congress is a "branded" corruption machine, but I want to know what is Arun Jaitley doing in BCCI?.Has he represented even his school cricket team? It is now known beyond doubt that the BCCI chief & his family is a party to the sleazy affair. When BJP can ask for resignations of congress ministers every day & night, what about their own morals? Jaitley & Anurag Thakar the so called "young blood" of the party need to answer

Dear Common citizens, We have taken enough cr@p at the hands of the Elite club ( Bollywood, businessmen, Sportsmen, politicians) of India. They cheat us, harass us and fill their Swiss bank accounts, make big money. And during crisis like spot-fixing scandal and owners link with bookies, they give empty assurances and take no action to punish the guilty, to expose the wrongdoers but defend them shamelessly to tooth and nail. What more proof we need to assure us all that we are being constantly cheated by all of them but still we rush to the stadiums to watch IPL matches which they know very well that public is fool so keep on fooling them, cheating them. I REQUEST EVERY INDIAN CITIZEN WITH SOME SENSE OF MORALITY TO BOYCOTT THE REMAINING IPL MATCHES, DO NOT GO TO THE STADIUMS TO WATCH THE MATCHES. We are their strength and THEY CHEAT US AND TAKE US FOR A RIDE, its time to stand united and let them know the real might of common public.

If CSK owner is involved in betting, then definitely the match between CSK and Mumbai should be in the radar as CSK folded for 80 odd runs. As per news coming out, he betted on 3 CSK games and 3 other games. How can a franchise owner bet on the games ? He can influence the team's performance. Its high time the investigation is done completely and all facts made public (I know for sure this is not going to happen as more big heads might role if it continues).

It has been proved beyond doubt that IPL is nothing but 'Indian Ponzi League'Some questions.
1.Why does the CSK principal or whatever, Gurunath want time to answer the Mumbai Police till Monday? Does he want the IPL finals
to go on without a hitch?
2.Is he fooling the people of our country?
    3. Does his f-i-l N. Sreenivasan
    have an iota of shame?
    4. What is the point about points table about 'fair play'in IPL now?
5.Finally what's our Government doing for God's sake!Filthy, bloody money rotating all over the country and this Government doing nothing! Arrest all Jerks connected with this 'fiasco' please.
