Shocked, disappointed and distressed: Rahul Dravid

Hyderabad, May 16 (IANS) : Rajasthan Royals captain Rahul Dravid said he was shocked, disappointed and distressed by spot-fixing scandal which led to the arrest of three of the team's players.

"I am shocked, disappointed and distressed over the events that resulted in  arrests last night and this morning. Rajasthan Royals is a special team and we have always operated like a family so this is devastating.

Spot fixing and corruption hang over the game of cricket which is extremely sad and dangerous," he said in a statement read out at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium here Thursday evening before the team's last league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He said the BCCI and Rajasthan Royals take the same zero tolerance view of the situation. "The Rajasthan Royals owners and management have made their zero tolerance view clear on every possible occasion and I am sure that they will support any action taken. "

"For me as a captain and leader I have to focus on ensuring the team fulfill their enormous potential and continue to play in Rajasthan Royals way. Our players are devastated that our performances may have been affected as they have the desire to win and this has been evident throughout the tournament. The players and people around the team are hurting," he said.

"I hope that our fans will get behind us and we become stronger as a unit which often happens in the times of adversity. This has been tough day for me, team and for the cricket," the captain added.

Both Sachin and Dravid both are the best players of the century. No one can replace these two legends. Why we are argue about who is good? Both the players were very good in batting but both failed as captain. Now the matter of Fixing is black mark to Dravid too as his team mate
(where he is the captain)involved in the spot Fixing.Wait and watch how many more names will come out... Every match of IPL from Season II Fixed.

To whom so ever it may concern
please before coming to the conclusion think twice before you speak, did uo see sachins 100th century and what was the result?how many matches has sachin won or saved for india?nw rememeber the calcutta test against australia and the result that has gone down in the history because of rahul dravid and laxman, now decide who is selfish, team comes first then personal land marks, see the way dravid plays his cricket when he was not in the best of form immediately he retired this is called spirit and he made way for others to perform and with regret to say sachin is still playing and will still play,so nw you decide who is selfish?no doubt sachin is great but if he would have been australian i think hardly he would have played 100 test matches.

Well said Allwyn and completely agree with you. Dravid is "Gem" and truly he is "The Wall". Nobody can fill Dravid's place in Indian cricket team. Down to earth person...fights till the end...cool and calm person. Sachin is the selfish cricketer. In the last match against Royals, he was injured and Aditya Tare got the chance and Tare used the opportunity, scored runs and got Man of the Match award. Lot of youngsters are waiting for a chance and all are being blocked by Sachin.

Sachin has been so selfish batsman. Apart from Sachin fans, most indians know that. They do not hate sachin but certainly do not like him that much as media likes to show. Sachin lost his huge fanbase after multan knock where he was taking long time to reach 200.

It is really defficult to any captain to keep the spoiled players togather when they venture into short cuts to become too rich early and illegally. These are the players with weak principles and morals whom the other party always targets. But,still I don't know why this sensitive matters are not come to the notice of other teamates, captain and the owners.Hope,we come to know the truth once the investigation is completely over.Thanq.

Simple... He will bowl wide ball and NO ball.... Its not a big task for a bowler to give runs how much he want to give. Its difficult to control the runs to a limit.

Dear Ramdev, It is sachin who is selfish and not Dravid. Each player is informed in advance of the team strategy and if he plays for himself the captain has every right to do what he feels is right. Dravid did the right thing in declaring as there was just an hour left for the 2nd days play.

He was just an actor from beginning, jealous of Sachin. However Dravid was a great cricketer. He d an innings in Paikistan in a test match when Sachin was batting on 194 and India won the match in 4 days and deprived Sachin with a double century. One of the most selfish cricketer Rahul Dravid.

Ramdev..team interest is more than any personal milestones. Why Dravid has to be jealous on Sachin? Dravid is an legend by himself. The way Sachin was playing that day was pathetic. And everybody knows how many balls he will take to finish his century once he reaches 90.

Normally before taking any decision a good captain should consult their teammates. Dravid should have sent message to Tendulkar before declaring, and asked him to score as quickly as possible. But instead he d suddenly shocking everyone. A player whether junior or senior should be given chance before taking any decision which was not done by Dravid. He may be a good player or person but that moment he erred. Same is the case with Ganguly. He always seems to take decision without consulting others. Both for Kolkata and Pune he scored good runs and also highest run getter for the Pune. But still the teammates didnt like him because of his one sided decisions.
