Man beaten, knifed to death in Rome


Rome, May 4 (IANS/AKI): A 49-year-old Egyptian migrant died in a hospital in the Italian capital after he was beaten and stabbed.

The attack took place in Rome's southern Eur suburb.

Witnesses said the man was set upon by two other migrants, possibly Romanians, who fled after the attack Friday.

The Egyptian was rushed to the nearby Sant'Eugenio hospital, but he died of his injuries soon after being admitted.

Police said the man was himself carrying a knife.
