Mumbai: Kannada Seva Sangha holds Haladhi Kumkum programme

Mumbai, Feb 23: “We should protect our land, culture and language. This point should be stressed to the future generation. Haldi Kumkum programme symbolizes holiness of married women. The organization should work hard to uplift women. The cooking competition arranged for women is praiseworthy,” said Latha Prabhakar Shetty, working president of Bunt’s women association in Haldi Kukum programme.

Latha Jairam Shetty, vice president of Bunt’s women association lauded the works of Powai Kannada Sangha. She said that along with married, children should also be given information about food preparation and should be allowed to take part in the competition.

Pramila Sudhakar Shetty, Alka Harish Shetty, Surekha Rajendra Shetty were the chief guests.

On this occasion, retired teacher, social worker, member of S M Shetty educational institution, Shantha Gundu Shetty was felicitated by Jyothi R Shetty and other guests.

Shantha Gundu Shetty also spoke on the occasion. We should strive hard to impart our culture, tradition, and customs to the future generation, she said.

Chandrahasa B Rai, Latha P Shetty, Asha M Hegde, Uma Krishna Shetty were the judges for the cooking competition. They were also felicitated on this occasion. More than 50 women took part in this competition.

Jyothi R Shetty in her presidential address said that the large number of Kannadiga's present in the neighborhood should become members of this organization. She also lauded the women for collecting funds for organization’s office.

Apeksha P Shetty, talented student of Chinnara Bimbha, was felicitated on this occasion. She is the daughter of Veena Shetty.

Prashanthi D Shetty sang the invocation; Yashodha S Poojary compered; Lalitha Jayaram Shetty inaugurated; Parveeni D Salian thanked;  Nalini S Poojary, Vasanthi S Poojary, Mohini Shetty, Geetha P Suvarna and other members assisted.

Anitha S Shetty,  Shaila S Shetty, Savitha K Shetty Usha R Salian, Praveeni D Salian introduced the guests.
