Top builder shot dead in Navi Mumbai


Thane, Feb 16 (IANS): A top builder was shot dead outside his office in Vashi by two men disguised as security personnel Saturday morning, police said.

Non-resident Indian S.K. Loharia was shot around 8.45 a.m. when he stepped out of his vehicle outside his Sector 28 office in Navi Mumbai, police said.

"He was shot four times from close range. He was rushed to the Mahatma Gandhi Mission Hospital where died a few hours later," the official said.

Loharia, 52, was a director with S.K. Brothers, a realty company engaged in constructing residential and commercial complexes in Navi Mumbai.

One of the assailants has been nabbed while the other is absconding.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
