Franco's grandma bags role in 'Wizard of Oz' prequel

London, Jan 29 (IANS): Actor James Franco has reportedly landed his grandmother a role in "The Wizard of Oz" prequel.

Franco plays the wizard in "Oz: The Great and Powerful", based on the books of L. Frank Baum. The actor asked the producers if his grandmother Mitzie Verne could make a special appearance, and his wish was granted.

"James is very family-orientated. He is very close to his grandma and managed to get her a role in the Oz film. She played a towns-person in the end," dailymail.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

The movie is due for release in March this year.
