Espanyol's Coach Pochettino Sacked

Madrid, Nov 27 (IANS): Spanish football club Espanyol has confirmed the sacking of coach Mauricio Pochettino and sports director Ramon Planes.

Espanyol are ranked in last place in the Spanish La Liga after a 0-2 home defeat to Getafe Sunday, with nine points from 13 games played this season, reports Xinhua.

"Mauricio Pochettino will today stop being coach of the first team," the club said in a statement Monday.

The former Argentina, Espanyol, Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux central defender took over as coach in late January 2009 with the side third from bottom.
