Two Mumbai party organisers held, 200 detainees escape

Mumbai, Oct 27 (IANS) Two party organisers were arrested and around 200 party-goers detained during a raid on a pub here early Saturday for violating the time limit, police said. The detainees later managed to escape from a police station.

"We arrested the organisers of the party at Liv Pub (in Colaba in south Mumbai) and detained around 200 boys and girls who were partying," Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shiswe told IANS.

"As per rules, the party was on after the permissible limit of 1.30 a.m. and hence a raid was conducted," he said.

"The boys and girls were uncooperative and were interfering in the police work. Around 3 a.m. they were taken to police station," he added.

However, lawyers Archit Jayakar and Rithik Bhasin came to the police station and started shouting and misbehaving with police who were noting down details of the detainees.

"We were short of staff...due to the chaos created by Jayakar and Bhasin, the detained party-goers fled," Shiswe said.

Police have registered a complaint against Jayakar and Bhasin.
