Olympics: Italian Wins Taekwondo Gold


London, Aug 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Carlo Molfetta of Italy took the Olympic gold in a tight heavyweight taekwondo final.

Molfetta was adjudged to have beaten Gabon's Anthony Obame though both fighters had nine points over three rounds and overtime Saturday.

Obame's silver is a first Olympic medal of any kind for the Central African nation.

Earlier, Robelis Despaigne of Cuba and China's Liu Xiaobo claimed bronze after losing their respective semi-finals.
