Pranab Should Reject Afzal's Plea, Create History: Thackeray

Mumbai, Jul 23 (PTI): Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today said that Pranab Mukherjee should begin his tenure as President by rejecting the mercy plea of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and create history.

Congratulating Mukherjee on his election as the 13th President, Thackeray said we have great expectations from Pranab Mukherjee.

"First of all, reject Afzal's mercy petition and hang him. The terrorist who attacked the sovereignty of the country should not stay alive," Sena mouthpiece 'Samana' quoted Thackeray as saying.

"You (Pranab) will have to perform this sacred duty," he said.
Recalling the contribution of 'Lal, Bal and Pal' (Lala Lajpat Rai, Balgangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal) in the freedom struggle, he said even today the magic of this triumvirate remains.

"Lal's Punjab is occupying the Prime Ministerial post but the country has not got the required strength. This is because of the hollow functioning (of the government) under Sonia Gandhi's blessings. Nobody can occupy the place of Tilak. Now Pal's place is taken by Pranab Mukherjee. It is a matter of pride," Thackeray said.

    Mr. President, it does not matter what Bal Thackeray says, whoever attacked the people, killed people without mercy, all in all, attacked the nation, don't deserve any mercy. He should have been hanged long back. What a shame,
    hang him. That is the only justice,
    if you cannot, then there is no justice in the nation. Law and order goes to dogs.

    Though I do not agree with BT's ideologies, As a fan of Pranabdaa I also feel that he must give his green signal to hang Afzal guru and other terror convicts ASAP without further delay.

    First and foremost, we do not need leaders like Bal Thackeray.

    India has gone to dogs because of fanatic and selfish leaders like Bal Thackeray! He can only think of Hindutva and of his Marathi community and sow the seeds of religious hatredness. I have stayed and experienced his atrocities in Bombay for more than 20 years.

    Completely agree with Bal Thackeray. Terrorists, criminal's and corrupt should not be shown any mercy. They don't deserve any mercy. If we show mercy, then there are chances of more attacks, more rape cases, more crime and lot more corruption.
