Mumbai: Water Policy, River Connecting Conference Held at Vashi

Mumbai, Jun 19: A conference on water policy and river connecting was held at Tunga International Hotel banquet hall, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, on Saturday June 16.
 
Goa CM Manohar G Parikar inaugurated the conference on Saturday.


 

Former union minister Suresh Prabhu was the chief guest on the occasion.
 
He addressed the future difficulties that will have to be faced by the country due to scarcity of water.  “The water levels in lakes and rivers including aquifers are depleting at an alarming rate.  The water levels on the north and east of the country are steady so far and the demand for water will increase in the coming years depending on sustenance of river water,” added Prabhu.
 
Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti former president Vishwanath U Mada, Ganesh Shetty, and Tulu–Kannadiga natives with environmental concerns were present on the occasion.
