2014 Polls on BJP's Mind, Yeddyurappa Backs Modi as PM Candidate

2014 Polls on BJP's Mind, Yeddyurappa Backs Modi as PM Candidate

Mumbai, May 25 (IANS): As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patches up and reconciles with its leaders -- with an eye to the general elections -- former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Friday made a strong pitch for making Narendra Modi the party's prime ministerial candidate for 2014.

On a day when the BJP seems to have bridged most gaps and is scheduled to pass a political resolution against the "misrule" of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, Yeddyurappa, who has just patched with the central leadership, came out in support of Modi, the party's star chief minister of Gujarat.

Yeddyurappa, who, according to sources, decided to come only after Modi landed here, also said that he would work for the party and blamed secretary general Ananth Kumar for causing misunderstanding between him and the party.

"The whole nation wants to see Modi as the prime minister, the party should portray him as its prime minister candidate for 2014," Yeddyurappa told reporters as he landed in Mumbai, reiterating what he had said in Bangalore Thursday evening.

Modi made the decision to attend the party meet after his rival Sanjay Joshi, who was backed by Gadkari, quit from the national panel of the party.

After a patch-up with party president Nitin Gadkari, Modi is now expected to share the stage with him Friday evening at a party rally.

The Gujarat chief minister has extended his schedule to attend the rally Friday evening, which is to feature all the BJP-ruled chief ministers and key leaders of the party.

According to sources, Yeddyurappa is also likely to be on the high podium at the rally here in evening.

Yeddyurappa, meanwhile, was seen extending all-out support to Gadkari, saying he was in Mumbai to "congratulate" Gadkari for his second term as the party president.

"He has stood with me like a stone in every situation, so I must go and meet him," Yeddyurappa said.

While stating that he did not want any post for himself and will work to make the party stronger in Karnataka, Yeddyurappa also targeted party leader Ananth Kumar for spreading "rumors" about him in Delhi.

"Ananth Kumar must stop what he is doing or the party leadership will take action," Yeddyurappa had said earlier in Bangalore, before leaving for Mumbai.

On a day when it seems to be bridging all gaps within the party, the BJP is expected to reiterate what its president Nitin Gadkari said on the first day - the party is the "solution" to "problems" created by the Congress-led UPA government.

@ Suresh, Mangalore dont comment like a kangress agent as you have so many excuses in supporting your secular party kangress. Gujarat riots was started between commnual groups whereas during that Modiji had appealed to public to maintain peace in the state whereas your kangress support medias never disclose such things. Also who told you that no one killed anyone in gujarat ??? What about those hindus who were burnt alive in train. Blindly dont comment for saving your secular party kangress. Even in Gujarat everyone including minorities have forgot Godhra incident, but kangress support of mangalore like you have more problem with Modi.

@ISMAIL.K.PERINJE, PERINJE-YANBU/KSA dont sit in Kuwait and create your own stories in support of your secular party kangress. First of learn to appreciate good works done by others.

Many people fond of Congress rule. These people least bothered for price hike or Economy Etc.They need congress in power.Even though leaders like Dighvijay Singh, Kapil Sibbal amend the constitution according to their knowledge, these supporters happy of supporting them.

Modi proved effective in Gujarat. He cleaned Gujarath and brought an international recognition. This was a challenge for him and succeeded. Many may not like but truth is open in front of them.Today Indian economy is hanging in balance.Inflation in its peak.No limit for Scams. These all happened in the past 8 years where Soniaji/Manmohanji as our leaders. We never got an opprtunity or Chance to tell "Well done Manmohanji"!!!

Now tell me friends along with all these odds if a state excells in its identity, who has to be credited for this?????Surely a wise leader.

Now you all will get a chance to tell Whether this wise leader can bring a change to this beautiful nation or not??If still have doubt, forget the relegion to whom he belongs to & elect Mr.Modi and get the answer.
    Jai Hind!!!!

I accept petrol is not digging from Modi's garden but one thing we should remember that in the light of crude oil price in seven-month low ($92.81 per barrel) they ( center govt.) could have avoid this price hike but they came with justification " we cannot run the country on populist sentiments". a irresponsible government can say such ridiculous statement and UPA Govt. lost their moral rights to continue in power .Modi is only one option in front us to lead prosper India.

Do you know that petrol prices in Under Developed countries like Sri Lanka and Pakistan are less than SO CALLED SUPER POWER country India? First bring down corruption ,automatically everything will be allright.Do you know that corruption in Gujarat has touched bottom level ? No state has achieved it.Thats why I said " Mr.Narender Modi can do it " One has to have guts for that.

Petrol prices are high now just because value of indian currency against Dollar ansd Euros, which directly effects crude oils importing prices...
The only thing we can do is increase our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exports, which will increase our currency value....

Can you tell me what about 1984 sikh massacre by your so called secular party kangress?? Are the Sikhs not human being or their votes wont effect your so called secular party kangress ???

@ ISMAIL.K.PERINJE, PERINJE-YANBU/KSA why do you have problem with Narendra Modiji. Gujarat is one of the most developed state in our country under his undership. Forget our majorities even the people from minorites are appreciating the good works done by Modiji and have started voting him in his favour. In Gujarat minorities themselves dont have any problem with Modiji, but why the people like you have problem with him. I think your secular party kangress is worried about loosing even minority votes and have started showing their double standards.

How can Yeddy show his face to LK Adavani as last week he snubbed him openly.Yeddy thinks A.Kumar is his bete noir who briefs and misguiding against him.

BSY, want to snub once again Advani and party(sushma)by projecting Modi to be PM in waiting.

LK Advani not happy as party constitution is re adjusted to accommodate N.Gadkeri consecutive second time

As latest information say LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj may skip concluding gala rally for the same reason.

BSY nothing to loose @this movement he want clip the power of LKA and team to be with Modi.Apart from that BSY need very badly "A JACK UP" in party affairs so that he can control Karnataka BJP.Under the circumstance ALL IS NOT WELL IN BJP which gives an indication that there is two strong block which may give sleepless nights for PM aspiring candidates with in.

What would be the repercussions in Karnataka in the wake of changed scenarios as BSY actively participated in the meeting and did make virtual blocks in BJP which again gives him some kind of hope and upper hand in the party affairs of Karanataka.Only time will reveal the future of Yeddy as well as BJP.
