TV channel Alleges 'murky deals' in IPL

New Delhi, May 15 (PTI) : A TV channel today claimed to have blown the lid off "murky deals" in the IPL among players, organisers, owners and big guns of Indian cricket, prompting the BCCI to warn that stringent action will be taken if the report is found to be true.

The channel, India TV, claimed it had done a sting operation in which many players confessed on hidden camera they get much more than their prescribed auction under the table.

According to the channel, its operation also revealed that spot-fixing is not only prevalent in IPL but also that first class matches are fixed and women played an important role in match-fixing.

Superstars of Indian cricket and even an international player, who is a captain of one of the teams, are involved in fixing the matches, the channel said in a statement. Asked about the sting operation, BCCI chief N Srinivasan said,"We will ensure that the integrity of the game is protected. BCCI believes in the integrity of the game. We will take the strictest possible action. We will have to have the tapes and the moment we see it, whoever is the player, we will take very very strict action."

"If there is any truth in it... It is a fact that we will take strictest action. Even if it means suspending the player immediately. But (that has to be) based on some evidence and fact, for which I have asked the COO of IPL Sundar Raman to request for the tape," he said.

Srinivasan said he has asked the Governing Council of the IPL so that in the morning there will be a tele-conferencing of the governing council to go into this matter. We will act to show that this is not tolerated."

"IPL, we believe is clean. We have got the Anti- Corruption Unit covering it. They are the in-charge of the security. We have got Ravi Swami, who was heading BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit to take it up for us."

"People can make allegations. But if there is any shred of evidence, we will take action. The channel claimed that an IPL player confessed that he was getting Rs.1.45 crore from its owner whereas he was in the Rs.30 lakh slab.

It named an IPL player, claiming he had bowled a no-ball in last year's first class match on the insistence of the channel's reporter. He had also assured to change his team in future if he was paid Rs.60 lakh, the channel said. Another player demanded Rs.10 lakh for bowling a no-ball in an IPL match, it said. The channel said a pattern has emerged where a particular bowler pitches easy deliveries and there are dropped catches.

The BCCI also said in release that it will seek a "complete footage" of the 'sting operation' and examined thoroughly. "The complete footage of the 'sting operation' will be sought, and examined thoroughly. The GC will meet on an emergent basis to review the footage and take appropriate strict action," Board Secretary Sanjay Jagdale said in the release.

It's true Mr.James, comments because for me, so loving game in my life and enjoyable, even knowing the game very well by practically. But when its played by the teams/players, my heart is paining, same the way they play they make fool to the Audion's. The same time the Audion's also no limit in getting fooled, but in one word can say the world has been become corrupt n no value for human being OR Money. Now present in Economy, China got First place n This Year India got Number one place in Corruption.

Match results will be decided during he stratergic break time.
If these match fixing news is true then Non of the top 4 teams will win this IPL.. because most of the betting money is on DDD/KKR/CSK/MI..
Winner should be between RCB/RR/KINGS 11.. Just wait and watch.. Yesterday RCB was fav and MI won.. MUNAF PATEL alone gave 54 in 4 over..in over he bowled 11 deliveries which is not a normal thing for international bowler.. his fielding was soo poor that he gave 2 boundaries in his fielding..

Ipl is all about glamour , charisma , stars and last cricket. Its very interesting but at some cost. If 20:20 league gonna continue , most of the text book shots and technical shots will dissapear and peaple vl start to loose interest in odi and tests. The most of shots played r of baseball type , heavy bat , physical strength and lofting. Worst part is its been managed by sum crap politicians and liquour merchants . I feel joke when every bangalorean shouts RCB , infact u r marketing every royal challenger whiskey bottle at zero marketing cost. Disguting . infact if the legends like kapil , gavaskar , should govern league like ipl , they deserve it and they worked hard for the rise of cricket in india.

That IPL is nothing but 'Indian Paisa Laundering'is well known to
the majority. Some 'kids' have been taken in by it and that's how it's surviving. Sting or no
Sting ,it's just a collection of
'bee's' trying to store honey little realising that somebody else will savour it at a later date! All types of 'fixers' somehow n unfortunately take birth in our sub-continent, the prime reason why we were ruled by the British in the first place! Cricket being their legacy, some leftovers of their regiment, have taken a fancy to it! That's all!
