Udupi: Absconding accused held after six years

Udupi, Sep 7: An accused who had been absconding for six years without appearing before the court was arrested at Haldipur in Honnavar on September 5.

The accused, identified as Srinivas Sridhar Shetty of Sirsi taluk, was arrested by warrant staff Vishwanath H and Mohammed Rafi under the guidance of Malpe police station officer Anil Kumar D.

The accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. He was subsequently sent to Hiriyadka Jail.

A case had been registered against him in 2021 for allegedly issuing a life threat to a businessman from Malpe.

Cases related to assault, attempt to murder, ganja and house theft have also been registered against him at Sirsi and Honnavar police stations. These cases are currently under trial before the court.
