Mumbai, Aug 28: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has expedited the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with draft voter lists for all Assembly constituencies in Mumbai scheduled to be published on August 31.
The development comes amid a high number of uncollectible enumeration forms reported in several constituencies across Mumbai and Thane during the revision exercise.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has also approved the rationalisation of polling stations across Mumbai City and suburban districts. The approval was granted on August 24 following the revised schedule for the Special Intensive Revision received from the ECI on August 19.
After publication of the draft electoral rolls, voters can file claims and objections at the respective Assembly constituency offices between August 31 and September 30.
From August 31 to October 29, notices will be issued by the respective Electoral Registration Officers to unmapped voters, voters with anomalies and those who have filed claims and objections. Their claims and objections will subsequently be examined and disposed of following hearings.
The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 4.
Those who turn 18 on October 1, 2026, will also be able to register their names in the electoral rolls. They can submit Form 6, along with the required documents, between August 31 and September 30.
Voters whose names are missing from the draft electoral rolls or have been deleted can also apply for fresh registration during the same period by submitting Form 6 and the required documents.
Meanwhile, constituency-wise data has revealed a high proportion of uncollectible or undigitised enumeration forms in several Mumbai and suburban constituencies.
Colaba recorded an uncollectible rate of 46.97 per cent, followed by Airoli at 44.03 per cent, Mumbra-Kalwa at 42.92 per cent, Mankhurd Shivajinagar at 42.31 per cent and Kalyan West at 42.65 per cent. Malabar Hill recorded an uncollectible rate of 39.02 per cent.
The revision exercise is aimed at ensuring that the electoral rolls are updated and eligible voters are included ahead of the next stage of the electoral process.
