Mumbai, Aug 27: Mumbai Police have booked three people in connection with a clash in Parel on Wednesday night following an Eid procession and deployed additional personnel in the area as a precautionary measure.

Senior police officers said the situation was under control and appealed to people not to believe rumours or unverified claims circulating on social media.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace and arrest the three accused booked in connection with the incident, an officer said.

The police are yet to establish the exact trigger for the clash. Officials said several claims and posts were circulating on social media, but investigators were examining the circumstances before drawing any conclusions.

According to the police, members of both groups allegedly raised slogans, following which a verbal altercation broke out. Appropriate action was taken to bring the situation under control, the officer said.

Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent any further untoward incident and maintain law and order.

Police have urged residents to remain calm and refrain from sharing unverified information while the investigation is underway.
