Mangaluru, Aug 16: The ‘Pilikula Aati Koota 2026’ was held with traditional grandeur at the historic Guthina Mane in the Culture Village at Pilikula, under the joint auspices of the Pilikula Development Authority and the District Tourism Development Committee.
Mulki-Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotyan, Alva’s Education Foundation founder Dr M Mohan Alva, senior physician Dr Shantharam Shetty and entrepreneur AJ Shetty inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.






The Aati Koota showcased the rich traditions and cultural significance of Aati month in Tulunadu. As a special attraction, 32 varieties of traditional and delicious food items from the Uttara Kannada region were prepared and distributed to the public.
A cultural troupe from Uttara Kannada presented the traditional ‘Hounde Rayana Valaga Kunitha’, which received appreciation from the audience.
Former MLA J R Lobo, senior local resident Shivaram Mally, Canara Bank Mangaluru Circle Office General Manager Manjunath Basavaraj Singai, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Taranath Gatti, Prof Sudhakar Rao Pejavar, Kishore Alva, Pilikula Development Authority Commissioner Dr Arun Kumar Shetty, Sub-Committee president Dr Shrinikethan and administrative officer Dr Ashok K R, among others, were present.
