Udupi: David D’Souza murder accused shot in leg after assaulting cops, trying to escape

Udupi, Aug 8: Police have successfully arrested the accused in the murder of David D’Souza in broad daylight at Mudurangadi town in Kaup taluk of Udupi district.

The accused, identified as Raju, was being brought by a team led by Kaup PSI Tejaswi and Karkala Rural PSI Prasanna. When the team reached near Ottinene in Byndoor, Raju allegedly assaulted the police personnel and attempted to escape.

At this point, Kaup PSI Tejaswi fired a round from his service pistol at Raju’s leg and apprehended him.

PSI Tejaswi also sustained injuries in the incident and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Udupi.

Udupi superintendent of police Hariram Shankar visited the hospital and enquired about PSI Tejaswi’s condition.
