Mumbai, Aug 2: Mumbai is expected to witness partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall on Sunday, with some areas likely to receive intense showers during the early hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast moderate rainfall in the island city, while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said intermittent showers are likely throughout the day.
Residents, especially those living in low-lying and coastal areas, have been advised to remain cautious during the afternoon high tide due to the possibility of waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius.
According to the BMC, the first high tide of the day is expected at 2.13 pm, reaching a height of 4.36 metres. Another high tide is expected at 2.31 am on August 3, measuring 3.93 metres.
The low tides are expected at 8.19 pm on Sunday, measuring 1.14 metres, and at 7.59 am on August 3, measuring 1.23 metres.
Mumbai received moderate rainfall during the 24-hour period from 8 am on August 1 to 8 am on August 2.
The island city recorded an average rainfall of 7.43 mm, while the eastern suburbs received 11.02 mm and the western suburbs recorded 4.54 mm.
Authorities have advised commuters to check traffic and local train updates before travelling, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and around high tide timings.
Meanwhile, Mumbai's seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, have reached 89.08 per cent of their total live storage capacity.
According to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre, the reservoirs held 12,89,289 million litres of water as of 6 am on Sunday.
The current water stock is slightly lower than the same period last year, when the lakes held 12,87,213 million litres (89.94 per cent). However, it remains significantly higher than in 2024, when the reservoirs had 11,64,405 million litres, accounting for 80.45 per cent of the total capacity.
