Explosion reported near tanker off Oman; vessel escapes damage

Muscat, Aug 1: The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on Saturday reported an explosion near a tanker sailing off the coast of Oman, though the vessel was not damaged in the incident.

According to the UKMTO, the incident occurred about 21 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman. The master of the tanker reported seeing a large splash followed by an explosion in close proximity to the vessel.

No damage to the tanker or injuries to its crew have been reported.

The UKMTO has not disclosed the cause of the explosion, and the incident is under assessment. Maritime authorities continue to monitor the situation amid heightened security concerns in regional waters.
