Harare, Jul 23: India registered a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20 International of the three-match series in Harare on Thursday.

Chasing a modest target of 126, India reached 126 for three in just 13.2 overs, thanks to an explosive half-century by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

The young batter starred with a blistering 50 off just 19 deliveries, laying the foundation for a comfortable win as India took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Earlier, after being put in to bat, Zimbabwe posted 125 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

India's bowlers kept the hosts under pressure throughout the innings, restricting them to a below-par total.

The second T20I of the three-match series will be played at the same venue in Harare on Saturday.
