Kuwait activates air defences as Iran launches fresh attacks

Daijiworld Media Network - Kuwait City

Kuwait City, Jul 20: Kuwait activated its air defence systems on Monday to intercept incoming Iranian missiles and drones, as Tehran continued retaliatory attacks against US-allied countries in the Gulf amid the escalating conflict with Washington.

According to Kuwaiti authorities, the country's air defence units were engaged in intercepting incoming projectiles after Iran launched another wave of attacks.

Kuwait has been repeatedly targeted by Iran in retaliation for US airstrikes on the Islamic Republic.

Iran has also targeted key civilian infrastructure in Kuwait, including power plants and desalination facilities. The attacks have raised concerns as the Gulf nation depends on desalination plants for around 90 per cent of its drinking water supply.

The latest exchange comes as the United States and Iran entered their ninth consecutive day of military strikes, with both sides intensifying operations amid an escalating confrontation over control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
