Bantwal, Jul 20: Vittal police raided a site where sand was being illegally extracted and stored from a stream, arresting two persons and seizing 60 bags of sand at Nekkare in Kambalabettu, Vittal Kasaba village.
The accused have been identified as Mohammed, a resident of Karyadi in Kula village, and Shareef, a resident of Okkethur.
According to police, the two were filling gunny bags with sand extracted from the stream at Kambalabettu Nekkare. Acting on credible information, the Vittal sub-inspector and police personnel conducted a raid at the spot and seized 60 bags of sand.

A case has been registered in connection with the illegal sand mining.
