Kalaburagi, Jul 19: The Karnataka Regional Service of Communion - KRSC gathered at the Bishop’s House, diocese of Gulbarga on July 18 and 19 for a two-day meeting of prayer, discernment, and planning. The meeting was held under the guidance of Dr Robert Miranda, episcopal advisor, KRSC and bishop of Gulbarga.
The KRSC team for 2021-2026 present for the meeting included coordinator: Cherian Ramapuram, secretary: Thomas Chinnappa, National NSC member: Joachim Pinto, and members: Elias Coelho, Ronald D'Souza, Bosco Solomon, Mercy Menezes, Jabamalai Muthu, and Viju Xavier. Fr Franklin D'Souza, spiritual director of KRSC, and Fr Clary, spiritual director of the diocese of Gulbarga, were also present for the deliberations.
The meeting began on Saturday, July 18 with Praise and Worship led by Elias and Rony. Cherian Ramapuram welcomed everyone, and bishop Robert Miranda delivered the keynote address on the theme, "Are we a Mission-filled, Spirit-filled Church or a Static Church?". Drawing from the examples of Barnabas and Philip from Acts 8, the bishop invited all to reflect on their personal call, prayer life, and service to the Church. He emphasized the need to begin each day with 30 minutes of Adoration and to build an "army of prayer" in every parish. He also encouraged the team to identify and nurture Spirit-filled people for the work of the Lord.
Following the keynote, bishop Robert Miranda celebrated Holy Eucharist and offered special prayers for the KRSC mission across Karnataka. After a short tea break, the secretary's report for 2021-2026 was presented by Thomas Chinnappa, followed by the financial report by coordinator Cherian Ramapuram.
Fr Franklin D'Souza spoke on the "Way Forward" for KRSC. This was followed by a session on the Rights and Responsibilities of the KRSC Team.
After lunch, the team entered into detailed planning sessions. Cherian Ramapuram presented the national programmes of NSC, and with the guidance of bishop Robert Miranda, the regional programmes for 2026-2029 were finalized. The team also shared views and discerned on key areas including DSC, youth ministry, intercession, and pro-life initiatives. The day concluded with Adoration, dinner and night prayer.
On Sunday, July 19, Fr Franklin D'Souza led the Holy Eucharist at the Mary Mother of Divine Grace Cathedral, Kalaburgi, diocese of Gulbarga, followed by Healing Adoration. The morning concluded with a sharing session where all members spoke about their personal encounter with the Lord. The meeting concluded with lunch.
The KRSC meeting was a grace-filled time of prayer, fraternity, and planning. The team resolved to move forward with renewed zeal to build a Spirit-filled and Mission-oriented Church in Karnataka. The KRSC expresses heartfelt gratitude to bishop Robert Miranda and the diocese of Gulbarga for their warm hospitality and support.
