Mangaluru, Jul 17: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, held the inaugural ceremony of its Student Cabinet for the academic year 2026–27 on Monday, July 13 in the Mother Mary Aloysia Auditorium. The theme of the inaugural ceremony was 'The Voyage to Excellence'. The chief guest for the occasion was Eshwar Shetty, founder of Yatharth Social, Mangaluru.
The programme began with a prayer song invoking God's blessings, followed by a welcome dance. Helen Serrao, head of the department of chemistry, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. The programme was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.


























A total of 37 students from the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were sworn in as members of the Student Cabinet of St Agnes College for the academic year 2026–27 by the principal, Sr Dr M Venissa AC. The newly elected Council is led by U Akshatha N Shet, president postgraduate studies, Nabhan Muzaffar, president undergraduate studies and Ashton Louis Vas, cabinet secretary.
The chief guest congratulated the students on choosing Agnes and remarked that they were privileged to be part of one of Mangaluru's most prestigious institutions. Addressing the newly elected Student Council members, he encouraged them to create a lasting legacy by embracing opportunities and contributing meaningfully to the growth of the institution. He urged them to be innovative and creative in today's AI-driven digital world, emphasizing the importance of developing unique skills that would help them stand out from the crowd. Drawing inspiration from the exemplary leaders of Dakshina Kannada who have represented Mangaluru with distinction and brought recognition to the city, he encouraged the students to strive for excellence and leadership. He also appreciated the meticulous planning and execution of the inaugural programme and extended his best wishes to the newly installed Student Council Cabinet for a successful and impactful tenure.
Sr Dr M Prem Dsouza AC, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr M Vinora AC, superior of the Convent and PG coordinator, Sr Dr Roopa AC vice principal and staff coordinator of student council, Shubharekha, controller of examinations and Dr Sabina D’Souza, IQAC coordinator were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.
Dr Soniya Lobo, head of the department of botany and Helen Serrao, head of the department of chemistry were the convenor and co-convenor for the ceremony and Aishwarya, and Raveena Mascarenhas assistant professors in the department of English, introduced the members of the student cabinet. Neha Bangera, assistant professor of chemistry proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the college anthem.
