Udupi, Jul 16: Day 10 of Manipal International Summer School (MISS), 2026, saw the rich cultural heritage and ecological wisdom of the Koraga community take centre stage during an inspiring interactive session on indigenous knowledge. The workshop offered participants a rare opportunity to explore how the Koraga people have, for generations, nurtured a sustainable way of life by living in harmony with nature.

The session came alive with captivating demonstrations of traditional Koraga musical rhythms, each beat carrying a unique cultural significance and performed for different occasions in the region. The vibrant performances gave participants a glimpse into the community's rich artistic traditions and their close connection with everyday life.

The resource persons, Ganesh Barkur and team, led thought-provoking discussions on the Koraga community's identity, indigenous knowledge systems, cultural practices and traditional ways of living. Through an engaging question-and-answer session, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the resilience, wisdom and cultural richness of one of India's indigenous communities.

The day also featured an engaging interaction with Dr Sharath K Rao, vice chancellor, MAHE, who spent time with the participants reflecting on their experiences over the past ten days. Sharing his own perspectives on embracing diverse cultures, he encouraged students to carry forward the spirit of global learning, curiosity, and cross-cultural understanding.
