Udupi, Jul 14: On Day 8 of Manipal International Summer School (MISS) 2026, participants took part in an interactive session on the traditional cuisine of Tulunadu at Mala in Karkala, gaining first-hand experience of the region's rich culinary heritage.

The session was led by renowned artist and heritage expert Sri Purushotham Adve, who explained how the people of Tulunadu have traditionally adapted their food habits to the changing seasons. He highlighted that local communities prepare dishes using ingredients that are naturally available during different times of the year, reflecting a sustainable lifestyle closely connected with nature.

The participants actively engaged in preparing two of Tulunadu's well-known traditional delicacies, pathrode and gatti, under the guidance of local experts. The hands-on experience offered them an opportunity to understand the techniques, ingredients, and cultural significance associated with these heritage dishes.

The session concluded with the participants enjoying the traditional meal they had prepared, making the experience both educational and memorable.
