Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 13: St Aloysius Pre-University College concluded Pulse 2026, its annual inter-class talent hunt, with vibrant grand finales held under the inspiring theme 'Rise with Talent, Lead with Humanity’.

The month-long event celebrated creativity, artistic excellence, collaboration, and holistic student development, reaffirming the institution's commitment to nurturing individuals who excel in both talent and character.

The annual interclass talent hunt was inaugurated on June 8 with the unveiling of the official logo and the announcement of the event theme. The ceremony marked the commencement of one of the college's most anticipated student events, inspiring participants to pursue excellence while embracing the values of empathy, leadership, and service. An energetic flash mob presented by the students added colour and excitement to the inauguration, setting the stage for weeks of spirited participation and healthy competition.

More than an interclass competition, the event served as a dynamic platform for students from the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams to discover, develop, and showcase their abilities beyond the classroom. Throughout the month, the campus resonated with enthusiasm as students participated in a wide range of literary, artistic, cultural, and performing arts competitions, transforming every venue into a celebration of youthful creativity and teamwork.

The event featured an engaging blend of individual and group competitions catering to a variety of interests and abilities. Individual competitions included poetry writing in Kannada, Hindi, and English, story writing, pick and speak, Bharatanatyam, mono acting, face painting, pencil sketching, mehendi, and cooking without fire. Group competitions such as folk singing, reel making, and Mad Ad encouraged collaboration, innovation, and artistic excellence while strengthening camaraderie among participants.

The month-long talent hunt culminated in spectacular variety entertainment competitions. The stage came alive with captivating performances showcasing music, dance, drama, and visual creativity, reflecting the exceptional dedication, enthusiasm, and artistic brilliance of the students. The electrifying performances and overwhelming audience response made the grand finales a fitting culmination to weeks of preparation and passionate participation.

Addressing the gathering, principal Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ reflected on the essence of true talent through the inspiring story often associated with the legendary violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini. Recounting how the maestro is said to have delivered an extraordinary performance with an ordinary violin, he reminded students that true excellence lies not in external resources but in the confidence, perseverance, discipline, and dedication nurtured within.

He encouraged them to recognise their unique potential, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and remain committed to developing their gifts with humility and purpose. Stressing that talent reaches its highest purpose when used in the service of others, he urged students to become compassionate leaders who inspire positive change in society, thereby truly living the spirit of Pulse 2026.

Congratulating the students on their enthusiastic participation, Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister, expressed his delight at witnessing the remarkable performances and the diverse talents displayed throughout the month-long competition. He observed that while some talents shine brightly on stage, others quietly blossom away from the spotlight, each possessing its own unique value.

Encouraging students to appreciate and celebrate diversity, he urged them to recognise and nurture the gifts they have been blessed with. While applauding the vibrant expressions of dance, drama, and music, he also reminded them to embrace the beauty of silence and reflection. He concluded by emphasising that diversity is the institution's strength, beauty, and future, inspiring students to celebrate their individuality while fostering unity within the community.

The valedictory ceremony witnessed the felicitation of the winners of the various competitions and the student convenors whose dedication contributed significantly to the successful organisation of the event.
