Mangaluru: Retired teacher Gopal Master passes away at 77

Mangaluru, Jul 11: Gopal Master (77), a retired teacher and resident of Ira Kundavu, passed away on July 10 after a brief illness.

He began his teaching career in 1968 and served at government schools in Sulya, Naringana, Ira, Suribail and Mudungarukatte. During his long career, he also served as a headmaster and as a Cluster Resource Person. He played a significant role in the development of the Government Higher Primary School at Ira.

Recognising his dedication to discipline, values and quality education, he was honoured with several awards, including the Dakshina Kannada district-level Best Teacher Award.

Apart from his contribution to the field of education, Gopal Master actively participated in religious and community service. He served as secretary of the management committee of Ira Shri Somanatheshwara Temple and was actively involved in the temple's developmental activities. He was also associated with the Ira Bhajana Mandali and several local organisations.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
