New Delhi, Jul 11: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has directed all recognised National Sports Federations (NSFs) to publish the qualification and selection pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, including the criteria and process to be followed for selecting athletes.

The ministry said the selection policies for major international events, including the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Para Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, must be widely publicised and uploaded on the official websites of the respective federations at least two years before the commencement of the events.

The guidelines also require NSFs to share their selection policies with their affiliated member units as well as the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

The Los Angeles Olympic Games are scheduled to be held from Jul 14 to Jul 30, 2028. Qualification pathways for the Games have already been announced by the respective International Federations.

The ministry has asked all recognised NSFs to publish the Olympic qualification and selection pathway, including the criteria and procedures for athlete selection, before Jul 15.

According to the ministry, the move is aimed at enhancing transparency, fairness and accountability in the selection process, while ensuring that athletes and other stakeholders have clear and timely information about the qualification and selection procedures.
