Beltangady, Jul 9: Six persons were injured and both vehicles were extensively damaged in a head-on collision between two cars on the Charmadi–Ujire National Highway near Seethkadu in Mundaje village on Thursday morning.
The injured have been identified as Vinita (22), Gauramma (49) and Kottregowda (55), all residents of Kavoor in Mangaluru, and Bhimanna (65), Srinivasa (32) and Shashidhara (33), all natives of Surpur in Yadgiri district.
Local residents immediately joined the rescue operation following the accident and shifted the injured to a private hospital in Ujire, where they are undergoing treatment. Fortunately, all the occupants escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.
