Mangaluru, Jul 9: Sanjeeva Shetty Padyaramane (72), former president of Amblamogaru gram panchayat and a resident of Amblamogaru, passed away on July 7. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
A committed Jan Sangh activist, Sanjeeva Shetty had been imprisoned during the Emergency for his political activities. He later served as general secretary of the BJP Mangaluru Mandal and was a member of the Mangaluru Land Tribunal.

He was elected as a member of the Amblamogaru gram panchayat for two terms and served as its president for nearly seven-and-a-half years. He also headed the centenary celebration committee of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School.
Sanjeeva Shetty was the founder-president of the Amblamogaru Janaseva Yuvaka Mandal and was serving as its honorary president. He also served as treasurer of the Ullal Zone of the Bunt's Association and its building committee.
He actively contributed to the development of the region through his involvement in several temple and daivasthana committees and was widely recognised for his service to the community.
