Mangaluru, Jul 8: With a vision of fostering a strong partnership between home and school while nurturing a love for nature from an early age, the kindergarten section of Ladyhill School ICSE and Playhome organized its orientation programme and nature day celebration on June 30 in the preparatory school hall. Centered on the inspiring theme, ‘Bloom with Nature, Learn with Love,’ the event warmly welcomed parents and emphasized the holistic development of young learners through care, learning, and environmental consciousness.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song by the kindergarten teachers, invoking God's blessings on the new academic year. This was followed by a warm welcome address by teacher Merlyn. Adding colour and cheer to the occasion, the UKG B students, dressed in vibrant and attractive attire, extended a delightful welcome to the gathering. The event was further graced by the esteemed presence of the joint secretary, Sr Maria Kripa AC, principal Sr Therese Teena AC, administrator Sr Ida Barboza AC and the sisters of Ladyhill Convent.

The play home kids delighted the audience with a lively action song that highlighted the importance of protecting and preserving nature. The LKG kids then took to the stage for a colourful fashion show, confidently portraying various elements of nature and spreading a message of environmental awareness through their creative costumes. Adding depth and elegance to the celebration, the UKG A students presented a graceful dance performance that portrayed the beauty, harmony, and significance of nature, captivating the audience and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

Addressing the gathering, principal Sr Therese Teena eloquently shared the school's vision of providing a joyful, value-based, and enriching learning experience for every child. She emphasized the importance of nurturing young minds through a balanced blend of academics, creativity, character formation, and experiential learning, while outlining the various initiatives planned to support the holistic development of students throughout the academic year.

The orientation session, led by the kindergarten teachers, teachers Merlyn, Lynet, and Teena, provided parents with valuable insights into the kindergarten curriculum, learning experiences, and child-centred teaching practices that nurture the holistic development of young learners. The session highlighted the importance of play-based learning and fostered a strong partnership between parents and educators. The programme was gracefully compered by teacher Elizabeth, whose warmth and enthusiasm added charm to the occasion.

Adding a meaningful touch to the nature day celebration, representatives of the management, parents, teachers, and students participated in a sapling plantation ceremony, symbolizing their collective commitment to nurturing and protecting the environment. The students further reaffirmed their love for nature by taking a pledge to conserve and safeguard the natural world, fostering environmental awareness and responsibility from an early age. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by teacher Lynet, who expressed her sincere appreciation to the dignitaries, parents, teachers, students, and all those whose enthusiastic participation and unwavering support contributed to the success of the event.

The parent–child leaf art competition concluded on a meaningful and inspiring note, bringing parents and children together in a shared celebration of creativity and nature. The activity served as a gentle reminder of the important role parents play in nurturing environmentally responsible habits and values in their children. By encouraging young minds to appreciate and care for the natural world, parents and educators together can help raise a generation committed to protecting and preserving mother earth for a greener and more sustainable future.
