Mangaluru, Jul 6: The Department of BCom – placement cell, Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC), Srinivas University, successfully organised a five-day Student Development Programme (SDP) titled ‘Career Launch Pad 2026' from June 29 to July 3 at the University Auditorium, Pandeshwar campus.
The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, Institute of Management and Commerce, Prof Sharmila S Shetty, head, department of BCom, and Prof Yashaswi A Ail, ACCA course coordinator. The programme was coordinated by Prof Vinutha H K, placement cell coordinator, and Prof Akshatha Y, with the objective of enhancing students' employability skills, communication abilities, technical competencies, and placement readiness.





The five-day programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by providing students with practical exposure, hands-on learning experiences, and career-oriented training.
The programme was inaugurated on June 29 by Dr Venkatesh S Amin, dean, Institute of Management and Commerce, in the presence of faculty members and students. The inaugural session was led by Supritha Shine, corporate trainer and HR professional, who delivered an insightful session on ‘Professional Presence 101: From Appearance to Attitude.’
The session focused on professional dressing etiquette, body language, self-introduction techniques, workplace etiquette, and personal branding, helping students understand the importance of professional conduct in career advancement.
On June 30, Prof Elson D'Souza, assistant professor and technical trainer, Institute of Port, Shipping and Logistics Management, Srinivas University, conducted an engaging session titled ‘The Digital Resume Advantage: Networking Your Way to Success.’
Students learned the fundamentals of ATS-friendly resume building, LinkedIn profile optimisation, personal branding, networking strategies, and the use of AI tools for career growth.
The third day, held on July 1, featured a highly interactive workshop on ‘Data Skills for the Future: From Spreadsheets to Insights’ conducted by Sumanth M, data scientist at Hintale and data science educator. Students received practical training in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI, and Data Analytics, gaining valuable exposure to industry-relevant analytical tools and technologies.
On July 2, Shwetha J Rao, assistant professor, A J Institute of Management conducted a session titled ‘Aptitude Accelerator: Think. Solve. Succeed.’ The workshop focused on logical reasoning, numerical aptitude, pattern recognition, critical thinking, and mock aptitude assessments. Students actively participated in problem-solving exercises designed to improve their analytical abilities, speed, and accuracy.
The programme concluded on July 3 with ‘Career Launch Lab – Build, Present & Prove Your Potential,’ an assessment and evaluation day. The assessment was conducted by Prof Sagar Srinivas, assistant professor, department of MBA, Institute of Management & Commerce and, Prof Swathi Narayan, placement trainer and assistant professor, Institute of Port, Shipping and Logistics Management.
Students were evaluated on communication skills, aptitude, analytical abilities, and overall professional preparedness. Individual feedback was provided to help students identify their strengths and areas for improvement.
The five-day programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students of BCom honours and BCom ACCA, who actively engaged in all sessions, practical activities, assessments, and discussions. The programme successfully enhanced students’ confidence, communication skills, analytical thinking, digital competencies, networking abilities, and placement preparedness.
The programme concluded with a valedictory ceremony and recognition of student participation, marking the successful completion of Career Launch Pad 2026. The department of BCom – placement cell expressed gratitude to all resource persons, evaluators, faculty coordinators, and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
