Udupi, Jul 5: Tension prevailed at the Udupi city bus stand after an alleged dispute over bus timings escalated into a shocking incident in which two private city buses were reportedly rammed into each other, creating panic among passengers and the public.

According to eyewitnesses, a PMT bus allegedly stopped in front of a TMT bus that was parked at the bus stand while boarding passengers, leading to a confrontation between the two bus crews.

Following the argument, the TMT bus driver allegedly asked all passengers to alight from the bus and then rammed his vehicle into the PMT bus twice in a fit of anger. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over bus timings and route operations.

The incident caused panic among commuters and onlookers at the busy bus stand. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though both buses are believed to have sustained minor damage.

A complaint has been filed at the Udupi police station by the driver of a PMT bus, alleging that a TMT bus driver intentionally rammed into his vehicle, causing damages worth Rs 1.50 lac.

According to the complaint, the TMT bus was scheduled to depart from the bus stand at 8:53 pm but remained parked even after 9 pm. When the PMT bus conductor inquired about the delay, the TMT crew cited a technical issue, stating the bus would not start. Following this, the PMT bus driver moved his vehicle ahead of the TMT bus. At this juncture, the TMT bus driver, identified as Salman, allegedly rammed his vehicle into the complainant's bus twice, causing the damage.
