Ohio, Jul 3: A truck carrying around 40,000 pounds of Frank's RedHot sauce caused an unusual spill in the US state of Ohio after a leak was discovered from the trailer, prompting an environmental response from authorities.

According to the BST&G Fire District, firefighters were called on Tuesday after reports of a semi-trailer leaking an unidentified liquid on Interstate 71, a major highway north of Columbus.

The truck was later diverted to a nearby truck stop, where officials found that the leaking substance was a large consignment of the popular hot sauce.

"The mystery fluid turned out to be a trailer full of 40,000 lbs. of Frank's RedHot leaking," the fire district said in a Facebook post.

The spill raised environmental concerns as the sauce is acidic. Officials from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were called to the scene, and emergency responders worked to contain the spill to prevent it from entering nearby drains.

The incident drew light-hearted reactions on social media, with many users joking about the loss of the popular condiment and others commenting on the difficulty of cleaning the sauce from vehicles.

No injuries were reported, and authorities did not immediately disclose the cause of the leak or the extent of the product loss.
