Mumbai, Jul 1: Actor Gaurav Khanna has reacted for the first time after actress Akanksha Chamola confirmed that the couple had decided to part ways, extending his support to her as she competes on the reality show Lock Upp 2.

Speaking to paparazzi during a media interaction, the Anupamaa actor wished Akanksha well and said he would continue to support her.

"All the very best to Akanksha, for life. Main humesha uske saath khadha hoon aur usko support kar raha hoon. Woh bahut achcha khele aur jeet ke aaye," Gaurav said, expressing hope that she performs well and wins the show.

However, when asked specifically about Akanksha's announcement regarding their separation, Gaurav declined to comment further.

Akanksha, who is currently participating in Lock Upp 2, revealed during the show's premiere that she and Gaurav had mutually decided to end their marriage. She disclosed that the two had been living separately for the past year and had been discussing the decision over the same period.

The actress also clarified that there was no bitterness between them and said they remain in contact despite deciding that they were not the right life partners, as they wanted different things from life.

Later on the show, Akanksha shared that their differing views on parenthood played a key role in the separation. She said that although she had initially been open to having children, she later realised motherhood was not the path she wanted to pursue.

According to Akanksha, Gaurav had initially respected her decision, but his views changed over time as he expressed a desire to have children. She said she understood that she could not fulfil that wish, leading the couple to mutually decide to part ways.
