Udupi: Trinity Central School celebrates International Yoga Day 2026

Udupi, Jun 29: Trinity Central School, Perampally, celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and reverence, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being and inner harmony.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, invoking the blessings of the Almighty and setting a serene tone for the celebration. Following the prayer, the principal, Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, vice principal and administrator, Fr Amar Lobo, chief guest Sunitha, academic coordinator Magdalina Lewis and the section heads took their seats on the dais.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was then conducted by the dignitaries, symbolizing the triumph of knowledge, wisdom and positivity over ignorance and darkness.

The gathering was formally welcomed by Hrishikesh of grade 6, who extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff and students. As a token of appreciation, the principal welcomed Sunitha with a bouquet.

Students eloquently spoke on the significance of International Yoga Day, emphasizing how yoga nurtures discipline, mindfulness, physical fitness and emotional balance. The programme also included the felicitation of the chief guest, followed by an inspiring address by Sunitha. Drawing from her experience with the Art of Living Foundation, she encouraged students to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and highlighted its role in fostering holistic well-being.

One of the highlights of the event was a captivating yoga performance by the students. Through synchronized movements, graceful postures and disciplined execution, the participants beautifully demonstrated the essence of yoga and conveyed the message of unity between body, mind and soul. The performance received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.

The gathering was further enriched by the address of the principal, Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, who spoke about the relevance of yoga in today’s fast-paced world and encouraged students to embrace healthy habits for a balanced life.

The formal programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Araiz of grade 6, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, management, staff, students and all those who contributed to the success of the event.

After the formal programme, the chief guest, Sunitha, conducted an engaging yoga session for the students. She guided them through various yoga asanas, emphasizing the importance of proper posture, breathing techniques and mindfulness. The session provided students with a valuable hands-on experience and encouraged them to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for improved physical and mental well-being.

The programme was beautifully compered by Daron Cardoza and Diya. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the timeless wisdom of yoga and inspired everyone present to adopt a healthier, more mindful and harmonious way of life.
