Bangladesh Played Better: Dhoni


Mirpur (Dhaka), Mar 17 (IANS): Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that Bangladesh were clearly the better side and his bowlers felt the pressure during the Powerplay as the World Champions slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the hosts in the Asia Cup here Friday.

Chasing 289, Bangladesh scored 293 for five with four balls to spare to keep their hopes alive of reaching the finals of tournament.

Dhoni said Indian bowlers were under pressure in the death overs. He also said that India should have scored a few more runs.

"They played better cricket throughout. At the start of the powerplay our bowlers felt the pressure, a bit more runs on the board would have been better," said Dhoni.

The Indian captain reiterated that Bangladesh were a dangerous team and could not be taken lightly. Dhoni also praised Sachin Tendulkar, who reached his 100th international hundred.

"The youngsters will learn more. Bangladesh can play really well on their day, they used the conditions well, their reverse swing bowling was good. We have been waiting for a long time for Sachin to get this (hundred)," he said.
