Narmadapuram, Jun 15: Five people, including a school teacher, his wife and their eight-year-old son, lost their lives while two others sustained serious injuries after a Bolero vehicle overturned on the Matkuli-Pipariya road in Madhya Pradesh's Narmadapuram district on Monday evening, police said.

The accident occurred near Matkuli when the vehicle, carrying seven occupants, reportedly went out of control and overturned by the roadside.

Local residents, along with police personnel, rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the incident and launched rescue operations.

The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Dhurve (48), his wife Jyoti Dhurve and their son Akshat Dhurve (8), all residents of Banjara Dream in Narmadapuram.

The other victims were identified as Pancham Thakur (55), a resident of Samnapur, and Kuldeep Thakur (40), a resident of Jhirpa Karer.

Two injured passengers, Akash Dhurve (25) and Sharad Uike (21), both from Samnapur, were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

According to police, the group was returning to Narmadapuram after a trip to Tamia in Chhindwara district when the accident took place.

Pradeep Dhurve was serving as a teacher at Semri Primary School.

One of the survivors told investigators that the group had travelled to Tamia in a friend's Bolero vehicle and was on its way back home when the mishap occurred.

Pipariya Police Station in-charge Madanlal Pawar said preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction.

He said the Bolero was travelling from Tamia towards Matkuli when the driver apparently swerved to prevent a collision, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Police officials also suspect that overspeeding may have contributed to the accident.

Investigators are examining all possible factors and recording statements from survivors and eyewitnesses to determine the exact sequence of events.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, police have completed inquest formalities and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations.
