Mumbai, Jun 11: The election for the executive committee members and the selection of new office bearers of the Bombay Judo Association for the 2026-2030 term was recently concluded at the Andheri Recreation Club in Andheri West, Mumbai. Three Tulu Kannadigas from the Karnataka coastal region have secured top positions in the newly formed committee.
Advocate Gopal Hegde, the returning officer for the Bombay Judo Association, conducted the election process on June 7 and officially announced the results. Following this, the new panel of office bearers for the 2026-2030 tenure was selected.




The newly elected office bearers:
President: Cawas K Billimoria, vice presidents: Suryanarayan Sharma, Mushtaque Ahmed and Kaushik J Umrania, general secretary: Pramod Anand Mendon, joint secretary: Sunil Bhaud, treasurer: Dhanish Yathish Bangera, joint treasurer: Rajkumar Gupta, technical advisor: Sureshkumar Narayan Samel, committee members: Parraysh Chheda, Shashikant Shetty, Rajeshri Sanjay Koli and Prasad Shinde.
Profile of the elected Kannadigas:
Pramod Anand Mendon (general secretary) A Tulu-Kannadiga originally hailing from Padubidri in the Udupi district, Pramod Mendon has been elected as the general secretary. A retired assistant commissioner of the customs department, he has been practicing Judo since 1982 under the guidance of Sensei N T Bangera. He currently holds a Judo Federation of India (JFI) recognized 6th Dan Black Belt. He serves as the head coach of the Marine Judo Club and is also a director of the Bombay Judo Club, one of India's premier judo institutions.
Dhaneesh Yatish Bangera (treasurer) elected as the treasurer, Dhaneesh Bangera holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt. He is the son of Yateesh Narayan Bangera, a resident of Tofa House in Kaup Hejamadikodi. The senior Bangera is a veteran Judo administrator, a director of the Bombay Judo Club, and the president of the Youth and School Beach Games Development Division of the Beach Games Federation of India (BGFI).
Shashikanth Shetty (committee member) from Kateel, holding a 3rd degree black belt, Shashikanth Shetty serves as the coach of the Shashi Judo Club and has joined the executive committee as a member.
With these appointments, three prominent sports personalities representing the undivided Dakshina Kannada district of coastal Karnataka will now serve on the leadership board of the prestigious Bombay Judo Association.
